7 Most Controversial Music Videos

1) Gorilla – Bruno Mars
Desi babe Freida Pinto starred in this Bruno Mars song video, and did she sizzle! From an extremely sensuous strip-tease to straight-up ‘making love like gorillas’ inside a car, she does it all! Watching Freida in such a sexy avatar stirred up quite a controversy!

2) Applause - Lady Gaga
In this video, Lady Gaga uses everything but a bra to cover herself! Sea shells and a dancer’s hands, to be precise. Apart from these reasons, Gaga had also asked her fans to purchase multiple copies of the album so the song reached #1 on the charts. We choose to react with a Poker Face.

3) Baby Doll – Ragini MMS 2
As if Sunny Leone grooving sexily to one of the catchiest songs of the year was wasn’t enough, the song caused some controversy because of its eerie similarity to Lady Gaga’s Applause! You be the judge.

4) Laila – Shootout at Wadala
Sunny’s back in the list with another controversial video. This time around, it is more for the lyrics than for her extremely hot cabaret performance on ‘Laila Teri Le Legi’. The song, as is evident from the lyrics, was called out for being sexually suggestive and there were even talks of editing the lyrics.

5) Dark Horse
Katy Perry’s 2014 hit singly Dark Horse received a lot of flak for its music video. The reason: A man who was wearing a pendant with the word Allah on it, is shown to be burnt! Katy was accused of propagating blasphemous opinions, but the world soon moved on the better things.

6) Party All Night – Yo Yo Honey Singh
Not only did the song raise eyebrows when it released because of its allegedly profane lyrics: “G**d me dum hai to band karwalo!”; but it also caused another controversy when a Haryana-based NGO sent a legal notice to Yo Yo Honey Singh for obscenity.

7) Blue Eyes – Yo Yo Honey Singh
Everything was hunky-dory for Yo Yo when Blue Eyes released. The song was a super-hit and the video went viral. But when Rene Sharanya Sharma, a rapper from Delhi, criticized the song everybody realized just how misogynistic the lyrics were! It won’t be wrong to say that ‘Blue’ Eyes left Yo Yo ‘Red’ in the face.

But who’s to say that controversy is bad for the artists? Afterall, any publicity is good publicity.
