7 Facts You Absolutely Have To Know About Randeep Hooda

1) Background Check

Randeep Singh Hooda was born on 20th August 1976 in Rohtak, Haryana, to Dr. Ranbir Hooda and Asha Hooda. His childhood was troubled as his parents left him with his grandmother, as they went to work in the Middle East. He has described his grandmother as bitter, and has also said that he felt betrayed by his parents.

2) He was a bratty student!

In fact, he used to cause so much trouble at his boarding school in Sonepat that he came to be known as ‘Randeep Don Hooda!’ How cool is that? He then went to Melbourne to pursue higher studies. 

 

3) He has had his share of odd jobs

While he was pursuing his Master’s Degree in Business Management and Human Resources, Randeep did a whole lot of odd jobs ranging from waiting tables, washing cars, driving taxis etc. to sustain himself in Australia.

 

4) The debut

His debut film was Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding in 2001 which received critical as well as commercial success. But as luck would have it, he had to wait for 4 years, till he got his second film: D. In the time that he was film-less, he acted in a lot of commercials.

 

5) Personal life

Randeep was involved in a very serious relationship with Sushmita Sen after they fell in love on the sets of Karma Aur Holi. But Randeep believes that it was the break-up with Sushmita that changed his career and he also dubs it as the best thing to have ever happened to him. Er, whatever floats your boat mate!

 

6) Pushing his limits

Randeep has quite a variety of roles to his credit, each one different than the other. And he has constantly pushing his boundaries too! Be it the man-to-man liplock in Bombay Talkies, his role of a kidnapper in Highway or that of a painter in Rang Rasiya. Randeep is able to mold into his characters really well!

 

7) His main hobby

He is really fond of horses, and in fact he owns 6 of them! He loves Polo, and is the only Bollywood actor to indulge in Equestrian events. Randeep has not 1, but 2 medals from when he participated alongside riders from the Indian Army!
