1) Background Check
Born on October 18th 1984 to Sylvia and Fredericks Pinto, an open-minded Mangalorian couple, Freida was born and raised in Mumbai. She has a degree in Arts with an English Major and a minor in Psychology and Economics.

2) Life before acting
Freida graced various ramps as she modelled for top brands in the country. Apart from that, she anchored an international travel show, which aired from 2006 to 2008. Soon after that, she joined an acting school in Mumbai.

3) Rejections
Freida received a lot of rejections in the early years of her film career. In fact, she had even auditioned for Chak De! India. According to her, she was mainly rejected because she didn’t “look Indian.” In a later interview, this is what she had to say: “I can have 100 rejections, but I'm sure there's going to be one particular thing that is almost destined for me to have.” Kudos to you perseverance!

4) She has definitely charmed Hrithik!
And she doesn’t answer his calls! Hrithik apparently was so wowed by her dance skills in Desert Dancer that when Freida missed his congratulatory calls, he took to Twitter to praise her.

5) Why Freida missed the red carpets this year
Freida, who has been wowing fashionistas all over the world with her Cannes appearances, decided to miss it this year because she was signed on for Andy Serkis’ The Jungle Book. Co-starring with Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett, Freida is definitely going to up her game with this flick.

6) Freida for a better world
Freida has, time and again, been associated with various good causes. Be it her bit in Gucci’s “Chime for Change” video, her active involvement in the Girl Rising Campaign or her moving speech at the Girl Summit in London; Freida has constantly been trying her best to better the world.

7) An identity crisis?
There is no doubt that Freida is absolutely killing it in Hollywood. But back home, she is yet to find acceptance. Whether it’s her looks, or the fact that she started off with a Hollywood flick, the fact that we are yet to give her a suitable platform in her own country is a tad bit ironic.
