1) Disconnect
Unfriend, unfollow, delete, unlike! Detach from your ex on all social platforms. You don’t need a constant reminder of his/her existence and hence you need to go away from them. Don’t call, don’t text; however bad the urge may be.
2) Don’t “Keep yourself busy”
It’s as simple as this: If you were hungy, would keeping yourself busy vanish your hunger? The quickest and most effective way of moving on is to accept that you have a broken heart, and that you need to fix it. Ignoring it will just escalate the problem!
3) Don’t adapt new beliefs
“I’ll never love again”/ “He/she was THE ONE”/ “I can’t live without him/her” are nothing but crutches! In fact, resorting to those beliefs will not only limit your social life, but it will also make it difficult for you to find new people!
4) Friends and Family
These are the people who will always be there for you, even when no one else will be. Talk it out with your family, go on a trip with your friends. It will help you for sure.
5) Kill the hope
To quote Fight Club: “To Lose All Hope Is Freedom”. The hope of getting back with your lover will just paint vivid fantasies which will result in teary eyes. Kill the hope and accept that the relationship is over and that there’s no going back!
6) Cry it out
It’s completely okay to cry! Let those tears flow and watch your depression flow away with them.
7) Smile!
After you are done crying, smile! There are literally millions of reasons to smile. Smile because it happened, smile because you are here and kicking; and most importantly, smile because you will love again!
Know that relationships are a tiny part of a huge life… Cherish the best of your relationship, and make the most of your life!
