1) Jalebi Bai – 1.5 Cr.
Mallika Sherawat set the dance floor on fire with ‘Jalebi Bai’ from the movie Double Dhamaal and it cost the makers a whopping 1.5 crores! But even so, this song was the most entertaining part of the movie. Yes, it (the movie) was that bad.
2) Piya Ke Bazaar – 2 Cr.
This sizzling number from Humshakals had around 500 background dancers and an absolutely stellar set and cost the makers around 2 crores. Even with 3 super-hot babes scorching the screens, we are staying away from it, just because it is in Humshakals!
3) Radha Nachegi – 2.5 Cr.
The lehenga that Sonakshi donned in the song alone cost a shocking 75 Lakhs, while the complete budget of the song seems to have hit the 2.5 crore mark.
4) Saturday Saturday – 3 Cr.
It cost 3 crore rupees to produce this insane party track which featured Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and an awesome futuristic set! Judging by the fact that this song is blasted every day, including Saturdays, that’s money well spent Karan!
5) Tha Karke – 3.5 Cr.
This song took an excruciating 12 days to complete. After all, it had about 1000 dancers, 180 stuntmen and 10 cars! It simply doesn’t get any larger, does it? But Rohit Shetty, since you spent 3.5 Crores, couldn’t you have hired a better VFX team for the song?
6) Malang – 5 Cr.
YRF spent a shocking 5 Crore Rupees on this majestic and extravagant song from Dhoom 3. The song featured dancers who were specially ‘imported’ from USA, including their costumes, who set up camp in Mumbai for 20 days. But even then, YRF couldn’t invest in an original script. *Cough* The Prestige*Cough*
7) Party All Night – 6 Cr.
This song takes the cake for being the most expensive party song in Bollywood till date. With about 600 foreign dancers, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha setting the dance floor on fire at a pub in Bangkok; the song cost 6 Crore Rupees. Judging by its success, it was totally worth it!
Whether they are a welcome break from a bleak story, or just a glitzy distraction; item songs are here to stay for a long time. And oh boy, are they expensive?
